Our Calypso gallery exhibition showcases Peg Woodworking’s signature style of combining hand weaving with the angular geometry of woodworking. Artist Kate Casey draws inspiration from Peruvian and American Indian weaving patterns and the clean lines of Shaker and Scandinavian furniture design to create pieces that provide a contemporary take on the traditional.

Calypso references the use of weaving in mythology and its tradition as a historically female craft. The gallery exhibit showcases the contrast between natural and blackened wood finishes along with intricate hand weaving across original pieces of furniture, wall hangings, and sculptures. The exhibition will be on view from April 18 - June 9 at Salon.
